In the ENSO group we have implemented several protocols to minimize the impacts of COVID in our operations. Do you want to know them?
Since the pandemic began, numerous changes have been adopted at the organization to reduce the impact of COVID-19 on our operations and to guarantee as far as possible that our workplaces are safe environments.
At the offices, in addition to temperature measurements, hydroalcoholic gel dispensers, reduced room capacities and increased cleaning, the obligation to wear a mask in common areas and was established. Face-to-face meetings have been practically eliminated, attending most of meetings mostly by videoconference. The software implementation carried out earlier in 2020 has proven very successful for teleworking and online collaboration. Likewise, it has been avoided that staff are forced to eat outside due to the risk of contagion that this fact can be associated with, for which it has been allowed for staff to go home at lunchtime and continue teleworking the rest of the day. Undoubtedly, these measures, to date, have been effective because with two infections detected of external origin, no one has been infected internally.
In our power plants, where ENSO O&M and MAGESTOP operate, in addition to the above generic measures, additional measures have been implemented and adapted to the type of operation and job position. Minimizing, for example, contact in changing rooms and isolating each shift from the others so that in case of contagion it keeps limited and does not spread to the rest of the staff. To this end, amongst other actions, Common Work Reports and Inspection Routes were hosted in a common server accessible to all so physical contact and exchanges were avoided. For the moment, this has paid off and for instance, the entire workforce has been prevented from being infected in an outbreak that recently occurred in one of the plants that we operate in Portugal with four infected people.
Additionally, masks were distributed to all employees with ENSO logo so that they would allow them to be identified when working in other facilities and in the whole Supply Chain Special Contingency Plans were established (in biomass supply, spare parts and PPEs) with no issues to report up to date.
The fact that the measures are working reasonably well does not mean that we should lower our guard, it is especially important to continue maintaining social distance, hygiene and monitoring the correct and continuous use of a mask. Only then can we get through these difficult times in the best possible conditions.
