Participation in the Membrane Technology, Research, and Industry Congress

We shared our experience at Garray in a specialized forum on membrane technology.

ENSO O&M, a company specialized in the operation and maintenance of renewable energy facilities, participated as a speaker at the Membrane Technology, Research, and Industry Congress, a reference event bringing together experts from scientific, technical, and industrial fields to share advances in the use of membranes applied to sustainable processes.

During the session, ENSO O&M presented its experience at the Garray biomass plant (Soria), highlighting the main challenges and solutions implemented regarding operational efficiency, sustainability, and water resource management. This plant has become a benchmark for technological integration in the bioenergy sector in Spain.

Membrane Technology and Its Role in the Energy Transition

Membrane technologies are essential across multiple industrial sectors, as they enable efficient filtration, purification, or separation of liquid and gas components. In the bioenergy field, their application focuses on:

  • Treatment and reuse of water within generation processes.
  • Gas purification and emission reduction.
  • Improvement of thermal and hydraulic system efficiency.

These solutions directly contribute to reducing environmental impact and complying with European sustainability and circular economy regulations.

ENSO’s Experience at the Garray Biomass Plant

During the presentation, ENSO O&M representatives detailed the accumulated experience in operating the Garray plant, a pioneering facility that uses sustainably sourced forest biomass to generate renewable energy.

Key points addressed included:

  • Optimization of operational efficiency and process control.
  • Predictive and corrective maintenance applied to boilers, turbines, and auxiliary systems.
  • Water management and effluent treatment, including the use of membrane technologies to improve water quality and reduce discharges.
  • Performance results in terms of availability, reliability, and system sustainability.

These results demonstrate how rigorous, continuous improvement-oriented operations enable high performance while minimizing the environmental impact of biomass plants.
