With more than two decades of experience in the energy sector, Elías Hernández Igeño is one of Spain’s leading figures in the development of bioenergy projects, thermal generation, and industrial decarbonization.
He currently serves as Managing Director of the ENSO Energy Group, where he leads the company’s expansion and consolidation strategy as a key player in the transition toward a sustainable, renewable-based energy model.
An engineer by training and an executive with a strong strategic vision, Elías Hernández Igeño has held executive positions in the creation, financing, and operation of biomass plants both in Spain and international markets.
His career has been closely linked to the evolution of the sector: he was part of the founding team of Gestamp Biomass, one of the first European platforms dedicated to biomass-based energy production — the direct predecessor of today’s ENSO Group.
Under his leadership, ENSO has consolidated a comprehensive model of energy solutions for industry, encompassing everything from plant engineering and construction to operations, biofuel supply, and energy management under ESCO-type contracts.
His leadership has been instrumental in transforming ENSO into a technologically advanced, financially solid company with a presence in Spain, Portugal, and Latin America.
