Development of projects

We support our clients in the design and implementation of viable, sustainable, customized, and optimal energy solutions for their industrial processes.

We carry out a thorough and systematic analysis of energy needs, understanding the processes and integrating ourselves into the production cycle.
Each industrial process has its own unique characteristics. That’s why at ENSO, we offer specific solutions tailored to the needs and challenges of our clients. Our engineering team conducts an in-depth study of each client’s particularities: their energy demands, production cycles, operating conditions, and decarbonization goals.
Based on a thorough analysis, we design energy solutions primarily based on sustainable biomass combustion and other complementary technologies, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and reduced operating costs. We carry out the entire project, from engineering to operation and maintenance.

What do we do in the project development phase?

Process analysis and study of the energy demand profile

We start each project with a thorough analysis of the industrial process, its energy consumption, temporal demand profiles, and the factors that affect current and future energy use, based on the company’s strategic projections. We identify potential optimization improvements, environmental emissions, and viable alternatives to achieve decarbonization targets. We also assess options for valorizing by-products and waste through the implementation of circular-economy solutions. From there, we jointly define with our client efficiency-improvement goals, emissions reductions, sustainability objectives, and compliance with specifications and regulatory requirements.

Environmental permitting management and regulatory oversight

In this phase, we continue working closely with the client to fine-tune the project’s technical and economic parameters. We assess the most suitable implementation of the solutions within the available space in existing facilities, as well as their proper integration into the process, ensuring they meet load profiles, peak and minimum consumption demands, and the required modulation capacity. The most appropriate technology is selected based on its technical and economic feasibility to achieve decarbonization and efficiency improvement goals. We also propose scalable and modular solutions that can adapt to the client’s future growth and evolving needs.

Preliminary technical proposal

We develop technical proposals aimed at meeting decarbonization objectives by combining efficiency, flexibility, and reliability at optimal costs that enhance process competitiveness. Our solutions are based on technologies that enable reliable and efficient operation with a wide range of biofuels from forest, agricultural, and agro-industrial origins, featuring highly diverse characteristics (size, composition, calorific value, moisture content, etc.), to ensure competitiveness and sustainability while maintaining the highest environmental standards. We configure the equipment for treatment, storage, handling, generation, emission control, automation, and monitoring systems, establishing the optimal nominal parameters to guarantee compliance with the performance and sustainability objectives defined in the analysis phase, while meeting the most demanding economic requirements.

ESCO (Energy Service Company) model proposal, financial and economic modeling, and identification of public funding opportunities

Next, we develop a comprehensive financial and economic model covering the engineering, construction, and commissioning of the project, as well as the full operation and maintenance of the plant — including the supply of sustainable biofuel — for the duration desired by the client. Depending on the client’s profile and needs, the energy service scheme is defined and agreed upon, establishing supply guarantees, service commitments, and clearly identified sustainability and energy-saving objectives. At this stage, we also identify public funding programs and incentives aimed at innovative projects, efficiency improvements, and decarbonization initiatives that may apply to the proposed solution, and we assess how their positive impact would be reflected in the financial model and overall viability of the implementation.

Standard contract agreement

Finally, the most suitable contractual relationship model for the client is defined, which can be structured under a thermal and/or electrical energy supply agreement (Heat Purchase Agreement – HPA / Power Purchase Agreement – PPA), or any other type of energy and service sales arrangement. These agreements are conceived as long-term relationships, with supply contracts extending over several years, offering clients enhanced competitiveness, stability in energy costs, and improved supply reliability, while additionally decarbonizing their processes. All this is achieved while maintaining full flexibility to align the contractual framework with the operational, financial, and strategic needs of each initiative, always finding the formula that delivers the greatest value.
